How can I help my students?
* Use sentence and paragraph frames.
* Use graphic organizers
* Model correct forms of writing frequently
* Allow the students to use word banks
* Conference with students frequently to point out positives and give students one thing to work on.
*Allow the students ample time to practice and rewrite.
Interesting Facts:
In many cultures, students are not encouraged to express their opinions. ELLs may have little experience with creative writing to bring from their native language.
